The Greater St.Lucia Wetland Park was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO protocol in 1999 and is South Africa’s first and largest Natural World Heritage Site. The beautiful little village of St.Lucia characterizes the southern most tip of the Greater St.Lucia Wetland Park. St.Lucia is situated between the Indian Ocean and the St.Lucia Estuary. It is the only village totally surrounded by a Natural World Heritage Site.

Maputaland Guest House can be found, centrally located and walking distance from the Restaurants and un-touched, golden beaches.

Warm Tropical waters fall onto these mineral rich beaches and have formed the highest vegetated sand dunes in Africa. These beaches are the nesting grounds for the world’s largest turtles and the ocean is populated with whales that visit these waters in winter.
